A National conference on Challenges & Opportunities in Information Technology was organized by the department of Computer Science & Engineering at RIMT Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh today. More than 150 research papers on different areas of IT were published in the proceedings and more than 100 delegates from different parts of the country presented their papers.

The chief guest was Regional Manager from HCL Infotech Ltd., Mohit Chawala who apart from congratulating the C.S.E. and other engineering department for successfully organizing a seminar on such a burning issue, exhorted the students to become professionally as well as intellectually equipped to face the tough challenges that are being posed by the rapid discoveries in the this hi tech world.

The Chairman of RIMT Group of Institutes Hukam Chand Bansal extended a welcome to the chief guest as well as the experts who assembled from various corners of the country to deliberate upon the issue of COIT. He said that RIMT eagerly looks forward towards such student and faculty improvement programmes that apart from providing a platform to them to diversify, enables them to interact and share their professional queries with the learned speakers. Welcome speech was delivered by Vice-Principal RIMT-IET Prof. Harsh Sadawarti.

The keynote address was delivered by Regional Manager Operations Meritech Software Private Ltd., Sudarshan Nagaonkar who deliberated on the topic ‘COIT’ and provided a befitting start to the global issue Research papers of the experts coming from all over India were published and released on the occasion. Expert talks were delivered by Dr. Rajesh Bhatia, AP Thapar University Patiala on the topic ‘Software Testing’. Mr. Madhav, A.G.M. ACER and Ms. Nivedita , A.S.M . ACER were the guest of honour.

Proceedings and CDs of COIT were released by the chief guest and other delegates present on the occasion. Online copy of the proceedings were also published on the college website. 180 MCA students were distributed laptops free of cost so that they may gain adequate know how and skill towards the fulfillment of their professional goals. Three best researchers, whose papers were especially held in commendation, were honoured on the occasion.

The vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Pritpal Singh, Principal RIMT-IET. Towards the culmination of the seminar Mr. Sushil Kumar Garg, HOD of C.S.E. and who presided over the programme chair apart from expressing his gratitude towards the chief guest and the other guests who had graced the occasion, especially thanked the students and the faculty members who worked with their whole might to make this seminar a grand show.
