Working for a social cause, about hundred NSS student volunteers of RIMT –Institute of Engg. & Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh, participated in a Pulse Polio Immunization campaign, creating awareness for the eradication of the disease.

Prof. Dalwinder Singh Dhaliwal, faculty member and NSS programme coordinator of the institute revealed that student in teams went to different colonies of Mandi Gobindgarh, visiting house to house and made the parents aware about the benefits of getting their ward immune from polio. The students urged the parents to visit the pulse polio booths on 7th February to get polio drops to the babies.

Mr. Vijayant Bansal, Vice Chairman, RIMT Institutes, lauded the efforts of the students. He said that the institute is committed to inculcate the values of social responsibility in the students and for this they are always encouraged to participate in such programmes.

Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Principal, RIMT-Institute of Engg. & Technology revealed that the campaign was launched by the NSS unit of the institute, under the initiative drawn by the Department of NSS & Cultural Affairs, Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. He said that launching of such awareness drives shows the concern of the university to instill character and responsibility in the new generation.

Meanwhile the students covered Partap Nagar, Preet Nagar, Adarash Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Shastri Nagar and other adjoining area in the vicinity and got an overwhelming response from the public.
