3rd-4th Oct, 2011 –
The Electronics and Communication department of RIMT-IET Mandi Gobindgarh organized “Electro-Avalanche 2011”, an initiative taken by e-vision club which aimed at enhancing the technical skill of the students. It was a 2 day fest (3rd & 4th Oct) which was informative as well as an enriching experience.
E-vision is an electronics club formed specially for the ECE students under the aegis of Dr. Rajneesh Talwar, Head of Department (ECE) to carry out technical events in the college. As part of its activities, workshops on Robotics, embedded systems, PLC’s GSM and several technical quizzes etc have already been organized.
Major highlight of the day was the inauguration of e-vision website developed by final year ECE students. It was dedicated to the ECE department & the RIMT-IET college. Electroavalanche-2011 was inaugurated by the worthy Director of RIMT-IET Dr. Harsh Sadawarti. it had an eventful first day which kicked off with a seminar delivered by Mr. Gurmeet Sharma, Director EESPL (Eureka Electrosoft Solutions Pvt. Ltd.) on “Recent Trends in Electronics”. It was followed by placement junction which aimed at preparing students for recruitment processes. It was divided into various phases such as aptitude test, GD, technical & HR interview. In the latter half of the day a workshop on MATLAB, a numerical computing environment was also conducted by EESPL. Also innovative minds (poster & collage making) was held. The participating students explored their creative side and came up with out-of-the box ideas. The winner were Varinderpal Singh, Pallavi Sharma & Jaspreet Kaur.
The second day was abuzz with activities ranging from technical to fun events like engenius, electron-shastra, innovative idea presentations, web tech, Question U-IZ, chess & Sudoko.
The technically informative events like engenius, in which students were quizzed about the visuals being shown. The top three notches were grabbed by Harpreet Kaur, Gagan Kaushal, Monika respectively, all students of ECE 5th sem. Electron Shastra was a quiz designed to test out the technical aptitude of the students. The winner were Sanjay Kumar & Tejinder Singh (1st position) Rohit Kumar, Raju Kumar Pandav (2nd position). In innovative idea presentations, students gave PPT’s on latest technologies. The best presentations came from Mahesh Dutt (1st position), Grish Sharma (2nd positon) & Kamaljeet Singh (3rd position). Another event web tech was designed to access the surfing speed of the students. Question U-IZ included both technical and non-technical questions. The first position was achieved by team comprising of Tarun Kaura and Rishab Wangu. Second position was bagged by Sahil Shorey and Mandeep Singh.
A workshop on VLSI was conducted by Mr. Manoj Kumar and Mr. Amit Anand, highly experienced and qualified professionals from DUCAT India Pvt. Ltd. It helped the students grasp the finer details of VHDL language. Also Telecome technologies, Pvt. Ltd. Mohali, conducted a workshop on GSM and CMDA. It was presided over by Mr. Kapil Bhutani, who gave in depth knowledge about 2G, 3G technology and CDMA.
The day ended with the prize distribution ceremony whether the winner of each event were awarded. The overall response and enthusiasm of the students was overwhelming which contributed to the grand success of Electro-Avalanche 2011.
