Dr. I.S. Dhaliwal, Ph.D in Agricultural Engg. (Farm Machinery and Power Engineering) Ex. Professor and Head of Deptt. of Farm Machinery & Power Engg. and Ex. Dean (CAE&T) of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana joined as Principal, RIMT-IET (Second Shift), Mandi Gobindgarh. His major area of research in Ph.D were No Tillage / Minimum Tillage and Residue Management. He worked on Design & Development of planting M/C System, Zero Tillage / Reduced Tillage, Resource Conservation, Residue Management, Sugarcane Mechanization and Water Saving technologies. He specially introduced Laser Land Leveler which were firstly introduced in year 2003-04 in Punjab by PAU, Ludhiana.
He served for 34 years in the field of Agricultural Engineering specially in Farm Power & Machinery and published/submitted 75 Research / Extension papers and several manuals and reports. He taught all the courses of Farm Machinery & Power Engineering at Graduate and Post Graduate level during his service period. Under his guidance as Major Advisor 5 Ph.D students, 5 M.Tech students and 15 B.Tech students completed their degree in Agricultural Engg. (Farm Machinery & Power Engg.). As the Head of Department at PAU, Ludhiana he organized 2.5 dozen Farm Machinery Training and five field days for the Agricultural Scientist / Farmers of the state. In addition to this, he got additional charge of University Vehicle Pool, Incharge University Workshop and Coordinator of Research (Agricultural Engg.).
He is Life Member of various Indian Societies such as ISTE, ISAE, IE and Member of Journal of Agricultural Engineering (referred journal). He was a Chairman of Pb. Chapter of Indian Society of Agricultural Engg. for a term of two years. He attented 27 conferences / seminars / workshops during his service. He was awarded Shiksha Rattan Puraskar (Certificate of Excellence) by IIFS, New Delhi in July 2007. |
